About Our Program

This course is led by:

-Natalie, CPT, Certified Trauma-Informed Weightlifting Practitioner & the co-founder of Gym Space Equity (GSEQ) here in Portland.

-Gabi Dixson - a Social Worker, Professional Strongwoman + Coach, and the (other) co-founder of Gym Space Equity.

Gym Space Equity is an Oregon nonprofit focused on "lowering barriers to access + increasing representation in fitness spaces, expanding joy in movement."

With our mission to make fitness more equitable, we believe that change comes from within the industry itself.

We've built a continuing education training: Soft Skills for Strength Coaches to help equip fitness professionals with the knowledge, resources, and applications to improve their practices.

This workshop is a continuation of that.

One of the hardest challenges we face, as coaches? Supporting all individuals in a group coaching format- ensuring that no one is left behind (without overextending ourselves in the process).

That's what this version is all about: more hands-on, real-life examples for you to bring to the coaching floor in your every day.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:

  • BACKGROUND: Understanding Coach-Client Relationships, Trauma-Informed Principles
  • Tools: Providing Individual Support without leaving anyone Behind
  • Workshop: Motivational Interviewing Strategies, Case Studies
  • Discussion: Cultivating a *truly* inclusive Community among client

Note: This workshop is eligible for 0.4 NASM & NCSA CEUs.
